A couple of months ago we went down for another trip to the Grandparents.
During the course of each trip we end up visiting some local scenery or "tourist" spots. We've done the Buckhorn Wash, Rochester Panels, and decided to take a jaunt to the Little Grand Canyon this time. There's a really cool pull out, with a couple of places to jump down into the rougher areas. This was our particular path down.
The view really is incredible! It's amazing that during the course of thousands of years, yearly weather patterns, and the gradual erosion of land, that this remains.
Clambering back up is MUCH hard than going down. Especially at this elevation and sun exposure!
Gramps and the Eternal Manfriend.
The Grands. They are so precious!
My Grandpa is a machinist. This is one of his work tables. I asked if he's be able to make us some dutch oven lifters. Given his self-built shop, experience in iron-working and welding, and enjoyment of miscellaneous projects, he readily agreed an popped out some lifters in about an hour. He's pretty awesome like that.
Measuring pieces of iron...
While Gramps was busy in the shop, I wandered around the garden.
And then wandered back to try on the welding helmet. This was the first time I'd ever actually donned the helmet, and was surprised to see that everything was green!!! It's safe to look at the sun with a welding helmet, so I spent a good while gazing into the skies. Garrett was kind enough to document my experience.
"Everything is green!!! You've got to try this on!"
Some other project in the works on the table saw.
My Grandpa's trusty Ford. Still starts, believe it or not. The Cuss on the back was used to lift MASSIVE dutch ovens that he built many years ago. He since donated the set of ovens to the local fire department, but the truck still gets some great use.
Some good old reading down-time.
And baby-grand piano time! I wish I could play nearly as well as my Grams or lover-man played!
Sunday morning out on the deck.
And the drive home!!! It was really good to pop in for another visit before we leave for South Carolina. Fortunately the Grands make a trip out to the DC area about once a year to visit my Aunt and Uncle. Fortunately our townhome has a spare bedroom!
